Server and keys
HornetHive's Model Context Protocol server is at https://mcp.hornethive.io, over Streamable HTTP. It lets an AI agent such as Claude, Cursor or Codex manage your databases with an API key, sent as Authorization: Bearer <key>. MCP is on the plans that include it; see pricing.
The key decides what the agent can do. A read key is offered only the read tools; a write key also gets the tools that create, delete and sync. A key limited to one database sees and acts on that database alone, and cannot create one. Give an agent the narrowest key that does the job.
Connecting a client
Most clients take the URL and a header. In Claude Code use claude mcp add; in Cursor, Claude Desktop and others add the server to their MCP configuration file. The older address, https://hornethive.io/mcp, also still works.
claude mcp add --transport http hornethive https://mcp.hornethive.io \
--header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
# mcp.json (Cursor, Claude Desktop, others)

| Tool | Scope | Does |
|---|---|---|
| list_databases | read | Your databases; a key limited to one database sees only that one. |
| get_database | read | One database's status, plan features and connection details. |
| list_regions | read | The regions a database can be created in, and which have room now. |
| list_tables | read | The tables in a database's public schema. |
| describe_table | read | Columns, types, defaults, primary and foreign keys, indexes and estimated rows. |
| get_database_stats | read | Size, connections, cache hit ratio, transactions, rows read and written. |
| get_connection_string | read | Pooled and direct connection strings, password masked; on plans with direct connections. |
| create_database | write | Create a database: a label, and optionally a region and a password. |
| delete_database | write | Delete a database. It cannot be undone. |
| sync_graphql | write | Make new or changed tables available over GraphQL. |

Calls and limits
Each tool call counts against your plan's monthly calls, like a REST or GraphQL request. A refused key answers 401, and a plan without MCP 403, before any tool runs; a tool the key's scope does not allow returns an error naming the scope it needs.
